A Chinese rover discovered an unusually shaped rock, suspected to be a piece of meteorite, attached to the surface of the moon.
to me Space.comOn the far side of the moon, the Chinese Yutu-2 rover was discovered. The Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) has described the elongated crust as a “landmark.” Scientific Awareness Channel Our space It stands out as the latest example of the fact that the long-observed surface of the Moon could happen It still holds surprises for intrepid explorers.
Shaped like a stray
What interests moon scientists the most about this object is its shape, which stands out from most other rocks on the moon.
“It looks like it’s shell-shaped and is sticking out of the Earth,” said Dan Moriarty, a postdoctoral fellow at NASA at Goddard Space Flight Center. Space.com. “This is definitely extraordinary.”
According to Moriarty, typical lunar rocks are approximated due to “weathering forms on the surface of the moon”.
Profound effect
Next, the CNSA researchers plan to examine the rocks further, using a vehicle’s visible and near-infrared imaging spectrometer to analyze the material composition.
More analysis is needed to determine a more accurate asset. For now, though, I assume Moriarty Space.com That the rock is part of a meteor impact – a reminder that the desolate surface of the Moon is a living geological environment still formed by the impacts of monstrous asteroids.
